2025MIECF Forum Focuses on Technological Innovation to Create Beautiful Cities

As an international platform for environmental information exchange, the 2025 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2025MIECF) continues to explore new paths for green and sustainable development through its Green Forum. This afternoon (28 March), the “Green Forum Session 2: Technological Innovation to Create Beautiful Cities” brought together experts, scholars and industry leaders from home and abroad to share their valuable experiences and insights on how innovative green technologies contribute to sustainable urban development.

 

As society progresses, the innovation of green technologies assumes a vital role in environmental protection, industrial upgrading, and ecological civilisation development. This session invited Mr. Xu Xiangchao, Director of the Research Office, Beijing Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau; Mr. Leung Cho Shing, Joe, Senior Environmental Protection Officer (Regional North) 2 of the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department; Mr. Zhao Ziwen, Associate Researcher of the South China Institute of Environmental Sciences, Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China; Mr. Vladimiro Miranda, President of INESC P&D Brasil; and Mr. Choong Pik Wei, Lionel, Executive Director of Hiroyuki Industries (M) Sdn Bhd, to serve as speakers, with Mr. Kou Kun Pang, Associate Professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Macau, as the moderator.

 

To build a greener future for cities, speakers examined from different perspectives how green innovations can promote sustainable urban development through, among others, pollution prevention and control, efficient utilisation and conservation of resources and advancement of green infrastructure.

 

In particular, Mr. Xu Xiangchao delivered a keynote speech entitled “Optimisation of Mobile Source Structure for More Blue Skies in Beijing”, where he shared valuable insights on Beijing’s achievement in better emission reduction results by raising standards and strengthening regulation, thereby reducing pollutant emissions in the transportation sector and becoming a key pathway to promoting green, low-carbon, and high-quality development.

 

Following Xu’s presentation, Mr. Leung Cho Shing’s keynote speech, “Application of Ground Penetrating Radar and Augmented Reality”, explained the working principles of ground penetrating radar and its applications, and shared relevant case studies in Hong Kong.

 

Other speakers contributed their perspectives in keynote speeches entitled “Green Innovation and Practices in Aquaculture Effluent Treatment”, “Adoption of New Energy Technologies: Impacts and Incentives”, and “Bottle to Bottle - rPET Food Grade Resin Technology”.

 

This year’s MIECF continues to seek professional accreditation for designated forums and issue certificates of attendance to participants in designated sessions, giving full play to its role as a professional knowledge-sharing platform.
