The “2021 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (2021MIECF) will be held from 5 to 7 August, with the theme “Towards a Green and Low Carbon New Era”. During the 2021MIECF, the “Green Forum” will introduce the environmental protection policies of China’s 14^th Five-Year Plan.

As this year marks the start of China’s 14^th Five-Year Plan, the Green Forum “Session 2: The ‘14^th Five-Year’ Environmental Plan and the Path to the Future” will be held in the morning of Day 2 (6 August) during the 2021MIECF. This forum is co-developed with the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China, and has invited a number of leaders and experts from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment as guest speakers, including Deputy Director General of the Department of General Affairs Wan Jun; Director of the General Office Zheng Weibo; Director of the Department of Solid Wastes and Chemicals Wen Xuefeng; Deputy Director of the Department of Climate Change Wang Tie; and Deputy Director of the Laboratory of Atmospheric Environment Research Centre, South China Institute of Environmental Sciences Sun Jiaren. The guests will introduce the environmental protection policies of the national 14^th Five-Year Plan, with Vice-Chairman of the Consultative Committee of Environment of the Macao SAR Government Kou Kun Pang, as the moderator.

In this session, Deputy Director General Wan will, with the theme of “‘14^th Five-Year Plan’ Ecological Environmental Protection Tasks and Policy Requirements”, summarise the achievements and experience of China’s ecological environmental protection during the 13th Five-Year Plan and analyse the key tasks and policy requirements for ecological environmental protection during the 14^th Five-Year Plan based on the outline of the 14^th Five-Year Plan. Live streaming of the conference will be available, and certificates of attendance will be issued to online and offline attendees.

In addition, the Green Forum “Session 3: Pan-Pearl River Delta Environmental Protection Industry Conference for Co-operation and Exchange” will be held in the afternoon of the same day (6 August). It is due to be attended by associations and member enterprises from the environmental protection industry from the nine Pan-Pearl River Delta provinces, as well as related associations and enterprises in Macao’s environmental protection industry. This session will introduce and analyse the advantages of the environmental protection industry in the Pan-Pearl River Delta provinces, the profile and demand of Macao’s environmental protection market, Macao’s business environment and settlement policies among others and provide a platform for in-depth one-on-one exchanges between the two sides to facilitate the development of green and low-carbon industries.

The 2021MIECF is hosted by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and co-organised by the governments of the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region, with the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China as special supporting organisations. The 2021MIECF will take place at The Venetian Macao.
