Mr. Hermann Koller

Executive Board Member of WKU (Austria)


Mr. Hermann Koller studied at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna and holds a master’s degree. He has been working in various leading positions in the field of resource and waste management at an international and national level for over 30 years.

Currently he serves as an executive board member with the company WKU, which is in charge of designing, engineering, financing and running of waste management facilities particularly for the city of Vienna, which is well known for running the world’s leading and efficient system regarding close loop cycling, resource and waste management including waste to energy facilities.

He was Managing Director of the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) for many years where he carried out waste and resource management projects and organised professional events around the globe.

Mr. Koller also played a key role in setting up, financing and running the national collection and recycling system for all kinds of packaging waste in Austria back in the 1990’s. The Austrian system for packaging collection and recycling was from the beginning and still is a role model in terms of ecologic and economic sound criteria.
