Mr. Pimenta Machado, Vice-President of the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) Moderator Bio: Mr. José Pimenta Machado graduated in Environmental Engineering from the University of Aveiro in 1986 and holds a postgraduate degree in Environmental Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto and a Master degree in Public Administration from Catholic University of Portugal. Mr. Pimenta Machado has held various management positions in several organizations related to water and water resources, among them: member of the Directorate of the Institute of Hydraulics and Water Resources of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (January 2018 to present); Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sociedade Polis Litoral Norte (November 2013 to present); Regional Administrator of the Administration of the Northern Hydrographic Region, a decentralized department of the APA (April 2012 to May 2018); Director of Department of Water Resources of the Coast of ARH of the North, IP (October 2008 to September 2011); Director of Coastal Services, with executive functions in the management of water resources and in the technical support to the North Regional Operational Program (POR Nord) integrated in the NSRF, in the water domain (October 2007 to October 2008); member of the Regional Directorate for the Environment and Natural Resources of the North (DRARN), where he was responsible for the management of water resources (June 1990 to April 2001); Representative of the Ministry of the Environment in the Monitoring Committee of the Contracts Program of Technical and Financial Cooperation for the Polution of the Ave River Basin, Barcelos, Póvoa de Varzim, Vila do Conde and Matosinhos; active in the Integrated Management Committee of the Ave Hydrographic Basin (CGIBHA), whose main functions are to study and plan actions for the decontamination of the Ave Hydrographic Basin (July 1987 to May 1990) . Mr. Pimenta Machado has authored and co-authored several technical publications in the area of Water Resources Management. |
