MIECF Guided Tours Enhance Governmental Procurement of Environmental Products and Services

The 2017 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum and Exhibition (2017MIECF) has – as previously at MIECF – held guided tours of the event for representatives of governmental departments. The guided tours aim to enhance governmental support for environmental industries by facilitating contact between exhibitors and procurement representatives of governmental departments. This initiative also helps representatives of governmental departments to learn about the latest developments related to green technology and products.

The organiser of 2017MIECF invited representatives of several governmental departments to join the guided tours, while on-site business-matching sessions were also held to promote contact between exhibitors and procurement representatives of those governmental departments. More than 20 governmental departments participated in the guided tour at this year’s edition of MIECF. The MIECF organisers arranged for these representatives from the government sector to visit, respectively, the Macao showcase area, the Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD) Region showcase area and that of the European Union.

Exhibitors had the opportunity to introduce their products and services to the procurement representatives of governmental departments, enabling the visitors to have greater understanding of the latest environmental products and technology, so as to create the opportunities for future co-operation. A business executive selling air purifier products said his company has participated in several editions of MIECF and also launched home and office products. He believes that the organisation of guided tours and business-matching sessions for representatives of governmental departments is helpful in the promotion of their products and services, in particular those for government-sector use.

The manager of a water treatment services company says it acts as agent of a German maker of kitchen sewage treatment equipment, technology that is fully automatic and environmentally friendly. He believes the MIECF guided tours can help enterprises introduce their products and services to relevant governmental departments.  Some governmental representatives that joined the tour said the visit to 2017MIECF was beneficial, highlighting that several products are likely to be of particular utility for governmental departments, namely the solar power equipment, water-saving devices and air purifiers.

While potential deals might not happen on site, the visit enables representatives of governmental departments to learn about the latest developments related to green technology and products. This could help various parties find suitable trading partners in the future. The public-sector representatives said they are taking the opportunity provided by the guided tour at 2017MIECF to gather a more comprehensive list of suppliers, which widens the choices available to the government sector. They also suggested the MIECF organisers should at future editions extend the guided tour programme to other divisions of the governmental departments, as it would better assist their procurement of the products and services showcased at MIECF.
